Level 3 Award, Certificate & Diploma in Veterinary Practice Administration

The Level 3 Award, Certificate and Diploma in Veterinary Practice Administration is a new dual-qualification suite for administrators, managers and front of house staff working in veterinary practice.  It introduces key concepts in planning, organisation and allocating work; running a veterinary business; and understanding the veterinary sector; followed by a range of tailored modules specific to veterinary practice processes and functions.

The Award consists of one compulsory module, Core Practice Administration.  This covers three main themes: Planning and Allocating Work, Workplace Information Systems, and Veterinary Business in Context; and takes two terms (12 weeks) to complete.  Successful completion of this module leads to the award of the AVPA; plus the ILM Level 3 Award in Leadership and Management.

The Certificate builds on the Award with optional modules to allow you to tailor your qualification to suit your role.  You can choose to focus on people, operations, facilities, or administration, or mix and match.  You will choose four additional modules from:

• Health, Safety and Security
• Marketing and Customer Service
• Project Management
• Purchasing and Budgeting
• Recruitment and Selection
• Resource and Facilities Management
• Team Leadership
• Coaching (from the Leadership & Management suite)
• Performance Management (from the Leadership & Management suite)
• Mental Health at Work (from the Leadership & Management suite)

Successful completion will take one year (including the Award), and leads to the CVPA; plus the ILM Level 3 Certificate in Leadership and Management.

Finally, the Diploma follows the Certificate and covers a comprehensive set of optional modules, allowing you to demonstrate a broad range of knowledge and skills.  You’ll select a further six modules to complete over an additional year, leading to the DVPA; plus the ILM Level 3 Diploma in Leadership and Management.

The course is taught entirely online, with the support of expert tutors.  Assessment is via a series of Assessed Questions that you complete as you work through the course, there are no exams required!  You will need to demonstrate that you have understood the concepts, and can apply them in your role, team, or workplace as appropriate.
