Level 3 Award, Certificate and Diploma in Foundation Veterinary Leadership

The Level 3 Award, Certificate and Diploma in Foundation Veterinary Leadership is our core qualification suite for new or aspiring managers in the vet sector.

The Award is the first stage, introducing key concepts in leadership and management theory, business analysis, and developing good workplace relationships, and takes two terms (12 weeks) to complete.  Successful completion leads to the Award in Foundation Veterinary Leadership (AFVL), plus the ILM Level 3 Award in Leadership and Management.

The Certificate builds on the Award with optional modules to allow you to tailor your qualification to suit your role.  You can choose to focus on people or operational functions, or mix and match.  You will choose four additional modules from:

• Recruitment and Selection
• Performance Management
• Team Leadership
• Equality and Diversity
• Mental Health at Work
• Marketing and Customer Service
• Environmental Sustainability
• Work Planning and Organising
• Purchasing and Budgeting
• Health, Safety and Security (from the Practice Administration suite)
• Resource and Facilities Management (from the Practice Administration suite)
• Project Management (from the Practice Administration suite)

Successful completion will take one year (including the Award) and leads to the CFVL; plus the ILM Level 3 Certificate in Leadership and Management.

Finally, the Diploma follows the Certificate and covers a comprehensive set of optional modules, allowing you to demonstrate a broad range of knowledge and skills.  You’ll select a further six modules to complete over an additional year, leading to the DFVL; plus the ILM Level 3 Diploma in Leadership and Management.

The course is taught entirely online, with the support of expert tutors.  Assessment is via a series of Assessed Questions that you complete as you work through the course, there are no exams required!  You will need to demonstrate that you have understood the concepts, and can apply them in your role, team, or workplace as appropriate.
